Drawing Zentangles

Today we will practice making Zentangles. A Zentagle is a structured pattern consisting of dots, lines, simple curves and orbs.

https://zentangle.com/

It is NOT a random scribble or doodle.

We will practice making at least 9 zentangles today. We will draw a grid of 9 squares and draw in pencil. Later we will choose 6 and make a zentangle cube using various sharpie markers.

The best way to learn how to do zantangling is to do a google search. There are hundreds of videos showing you how to create thousands of designs

At first do not try to make your own. After you get the hang of it you can customize some of the patterns, but for now just find ones that you like and copy them.

Picasso Cubist Style Self Portrait

Picasso

Pablo Picasso was one of the most well known and influential artists of the 20th century. He was a painter, sculptor, print-maker, and ceramicist.

Take a look at Picasso in action. He was constantly making art, and worked in many different styles:

http://www.openculture.com/2015/11/travel-back-in-time-and-see-picasso-make-abstract-art.htmlhttp://www.openculture.com/2015/11/travel-back-in-time-and-see-picasso-make-abstract-art.html

Picasso developed a style known as Cubism. Cubism is an abstract art form that was influenced by Egyptian, African and Native American art. Cubist art is very flat and angular, and shows multiple views of an object, such as the front and side, in the same composition.

Cubism

Picasso started as a traditional painter, but his style changed over the years.
Take a look at the many moods of Picasso in the video below:
